Throughout this project “Succubus Coquette” for the “Introduction to Fashion Photography” I looked at the way in which Fashion changed between the 1920’s to late 1930’s. I focused on how during the 1920’s post war the style was fragmented, subverting traditional female standards with a masculine leaning look due to the roles women played in the war and the reaction to pushing against the trauma from the war. I then compared this to the way in 2022 ,post covid, the Gothic ‘succubus chic’ look developed as peoples reactions of angst. In comparison in the 1930’s women’s fashion became overly feminine and traditional due to the rising pressures of the trauma from WW1, the economic crash and the rumblings of WW2 breaking out. Which then can be seen again today in 2023 with the surge of hyper feminine coquette styles perhaps due to the elongated trams of covid, the cost of living crisis and the conflicts happening today.
